Invasive plant species, such as Brazilian pepper and Australian pine, have the ability to overwhelm native Keys foliage, they threaten to reduce local biodiversity and they can diminish habitat for revered native animals, such as Key deer. Various public and private entities having long taken-on expensive projects to remove invasive plants from where they have already taken hold, but what steps should be taken to prevent the introduction of new invasives to the Keys?
